REVIVE MOVEMBER DIAGNOSTICS

Hair & Care in the Barber's Chair

Prevention Through Hair Health | Community Awareness | Early Conversations

Our concept

Revive Movember Diagnostics – Hair & Care in the Barber’s Chair is a proposed annual community awareness initiative using the traditional barber’s chair as a starting point for conversations about hair, scalp health and personal wellbeing.

The barber’s chair is more than a place for a haircut. It can be a comfortable environment where people talk, ask questions and become more aware of changes in their hair and scalp.

Our aim is to bring hair health education into the community and encourage men to take a proactive interest in their personal care.

1. Hair & Health Awareness

The initiative will explore the connections between:

  • Hair thinning and hair loss.

  • Scalp health and common scalp conditions.

  • Nutrition and hair growth.

  • Hormones and ageing.

  • Stress and lifestyle.

  • Medication and hair changes.

  • Skin and personal care.

  • General health awareness.

2. Diagnostics – Test, Never Guess

The proposed diagnostic education programme introduces people to professional hair and scalp assessment.

Activities could include:

  • Visual hair and scalp assessments.

  • Digital microscope demonstrations.

  • Hair growth cycle education.

  • Hair history and lifestyle questionnaires.

  • Information about laboratory hair testing where appropriate.

  • Guidance on when to seek GP or specialist assessment.

Hair assessments and tests can provide information, but they do not independently diagnose underlying medical conditions.

3. The Barber’s Chair – A Community Health Conversation

A practical campaign for barbers and hair professionals to become more confident in discussing hair and personal care.

Five simple conversation starters:

  1. Have you noticed any changes in your hair?

  2. Have you experienced changes in your scalp?

  3. Has your lifestyle or diet changed recently?

  4. Are you aware that hormones and medication can affect hair?

  5. Do you know where to seek professional advice?

The aim is awareness, not diagnosis.

4. The Annual Revive Movember Event

An annual community event bringing together:

  • Barbers and hair professionals.

  • Dermo trichology specialists.

  • Healthcare educators.

  • Nutrition professionals.

  • Men’s health organisations.

  • Independent product suppliers.

  • Local community groups.
